INNOVATION: Getting Cities & regions on the Map

This event takes place on: Oct 23 at 10am in The Sharp Project, Manchester

Ahead of Manchester becoming the European City of Science 2016, the PES Group in the Committee of the Regions is organising a conference in the city on 23 October, on “Innovation: Getting Cities & Regions on the map“. The event will build on Manchester’s first-hand experience in mobilising EU and other funding sources to build a knowledge and innovation environment which fosters urban re-generation, job creation and sustainable growth. Corina Crețu EU Commissioner responsible for Regional Policy, will explain how to effectively address the regional innovation gap through synergies between EU funds.

The conference will be preceded by 2 study visits to take place on 23 October at 10am. Participants will have the choice between “Corridor Manchester” and “The Sharp Project”.

On the eve of the innovation conference, a public debate will be held on the issues at stake for local and regional authorities within the context of the #Brexit debate.
