Creative England Film Makers Summer Bootcamp
Join Creative England at The Sharp Project, for a 2-day immersive bootcamp providing practical and real world guidance on all aspects of film production for Manchester based filmmakers.
Across the two days, each session will be specifically targeted at entry level audiences (less than 5 years professional experience) or advanced audiences (more than 5 years professional experience), so you will be able to choose from a range of smaller breakout workshops or larger seminars to suit your personal level of experience.

Day 2: Tuesday 21st August @ 9:30 – 17:00
Key topics covered include:
- Getting Down to Business: practical guidance on how to set up as a freelancer and tax implications (Entry level)
- Getting Down to Business: practical guidance on how to set up a production company and tax implications (Advanced)
- Developing a Short: make yours stand out from the crowd and ensure festival success (Entry level)
- Developing a Feature: fundamentals of what makes a good script and accessing production finance (Advanced)
- Creating a Pitch Pack – how to attract private investment for your production (Advanced)
- IP: how to protect and monetise your intellectual property (Recommended for both Entry level and Advanced audiences)
- ‘Setiquette’ – the do’s and don’ts whilst shooting and demystifying the jargon (entry level)
- Help and support – hear from the Film & TV Charity about the financial and professional aid they offer to individuals in industry (Recommended for both Entry level and Advanced audiences)
All sessions will be delivered by top industry professionals specialising in each stage of the filmmaking process, so whether you’ve just secured your first running gig or are an experienced Director/Producer, you are guaranteed to take away valuable information that will inform and enhance your future projects.
In addition to the above, each attendee will also have the chance to meet the Creative England team and sign up to their careers surgery to receive bespoke one-to-one advice throughout the two days.

This course is aimed at filmmakers based in the Greater Manchester area.
Due to the diverse programme, all levels of experience and grades are encouraged to attend.
