North West Playtesters returns to The Sharp Project
On Saturday 26th October, North West Playtesters will host a free to attend day of playtesting the latest tabletop and video games at The Sharp Project in Manchester.
Building on the success of last year’s event and their regular meet up group, the Playtesters team will be welcoming independent board/card, pc, mobile, console, VR and experimental games developers to showcase their latest projects.
Run in conjunction with independent games studio Fabrik Games who are based in the building, the day is open to players to give their feedback on the latest tabletop and video games being developed in Greater Manchester and beyond. It’s a rare chance to meet the people behind the games and play them before their official release date.
This time, the event will be supported by BAFTA. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is a world-leading independent arts charity that brings the very best work in film, games and television to public attention and supports the growth of creative talent in the UK and internationally.
They will be hosting a workshop for the Young Game Designers competition, a competition they hold every year for 10-14 year olds interested in game design. The BAFTA Young Game Designers Game Concept Workshop will run from 1pm to 2pm and is available for children aged 10 to 14. Whether you love to code, draw or write the story, BAFTA YGD gives you an insight into the world of game-making and a chance to meet game developers in the UK Games industry.
This workshop will help you to develop and shape your initial idea into and provide tips on how you might develop it further. For more information please click here. (Please note this workshop is now fully booked, however there is a waiting list).
North West Playtesters organiser Luke Perkin says: “It’s great to be staging another North West Playtesters event at The Sharp Project. The event is a unique opportunity to showcase the wide variety of gaming talent from across the North West. It’s also a great opportunity for smaller scale developers to promote their games to new audiences. We’re very excited to be working with BAFTA; it’s brilliant to see that they are working with young people to encourage a new generation of games designers.”
North West Playtesters 2019 is free to attend for all ages but please note that under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

The event starts at 12pm and is at The Sharp Project Thorp Road, Manchester M40 5BJ.
