New Series filmed at The Sharp Project gets rave reviews
A new eight-part comedy drama filmed at east Manchester’s digital production facility, The Sharp Project, aired for the first time yesterday, Wednesday 24 August at 9pm on Sky1 and Sky1HD and immediately received rave reviews from viewers on Twitter describing it as ‘hilarious’ and ‘the funniest thing for a long time’.
Called Mount Pleasant, produced by Tiger Aspect for BSkyB Ltd, and written by Shameless writer Sarah Hooper, the series is based around the life and loves of a thirty-something Mancunian couple and follows the complicated lives of their friends, workmates and ever-present parents.
Stars of the show include Sally Lindsay (Coronation Street) who takes the lead role of Lisa and Daniel Ryan (Skins, Just William) as her husband Dan.
Based in the electronics company Sharp’s old electronics warehouse in Newton Heath, The Sharp Project provides low cost spaces for creative companies in the media and digital sectors, providing easy access to high end, cutting edge technology.
The new £16.5m digital media production complex aims to create a ‘counter-corporate’ location for likeminded creative companies that will complement rather than compete with MediaCityUK in Salford.
The Project is funded by Manchester City Council, the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and the European Regional Development Fund. Led by urban regeneration company New East Manchester, Bramall Construction is undertaking the construction work on the refurbished building which has been designed by PRP Architects.
